Jordan Henderson has already spoken to Gareth Southgate about his England future.
That’s according to The Telegraph, who have reported that the 33-year-old has reiterated his desire to keep playing for the international team.
Henderson confirmed he was leaving Liverpool yesterday, publishing an emotional video message to his social media in which he addressed the Reds fanbase after 12 years on Merseyside.
The midfielder is set to reunite with Steven Gerrard in a £12m deal, less than a month after the Liverpool legend was named as Al-Ettifaq’s new manager.

Henderson joins the likes of Fabinho, N’Golo Kante and Ruben Neves in making the controversial move to the Middle East and will reportedly earn a staggering £700,00-a-week, however the switch will put his international future at risk.
The veteran was a regular during England’s World Cup campaign last year, however he could face missing out on the Euro 2024 tournament after leaving Anfield.
The report claims that Southgate can’t guarantee Henderson a place in the squad but has also given no indication that he will be frozen out, leaving the Three Lions boss with a huge headache ahead of the summer’s tournament in Germany.
Should Jordan Henderson keep his place in the England squad?
Jordan Henderson has 77 caps to his name since making his England debut 13 years ago.
The midfielder has been a regular under Gareth Southgate and was praised as ‘outstanding’ by the manager during the World Cup, however there are serious question marks over whether he should continue to play a part in the national team.

The Euro 2024 tournament would have most likely been Henderson’s final outing with the England squad, but it would leave a bitter taste in some England fans’ mouths if he is given the chance.
The standard of football in Saudi Arabia is undeniably a lot lower than in the Premier League and there is high demand for Southgate to select his team based on form, though we know he often ignores that.
The former Liverpool captain is still likely to be named in upcoming England matches due to his experience and leadership, though he faces a huge challenge to avoid being limited to cameo appearances.
