Danny Welbeck has responded to Jordan Henderson ahead of his Liverpool departure.
The Brighton & Hove Albion striker took to Instagram to send a nine-word reply to the Liverpool midfielder, who had published an emotional video post addressing the Reds fanbase ahead of his move to Saudi Arabia.
Henderson is set to complete a surprise move to join Steven Gerrard at Al Ettifaq FC this week, with the Middle East club coughing up £12 million for his signature. Meanwhile, the England international will earn a staggering £700,000 a week at his new club.
Henderson brings his 12-year stay at Liverpool to an end this summer and has received endless messages from teammates and supporters thanking him for his contribution that has gifted him legendary status on Merseyside.
Welbeck was a surprise addition to his Instagram comment section given where his loyalties lie. The 32-year-old played with Henderson for England and Sunderland, however he was born in Manchester and spent 13 years with the Reds’ fiercest rivals.

Responding on his Instagram post, Welbeck wrote: ‘Incredible Bro. Even brought a tear to a Manc’. Henderson also received support from the likes of Daniel Sturridge, Adam Lallana and Mamadou Sakho as he raked in over 638,000 likes.
Despite the positive reaction on Henderson’s Instagram, his switch to AL Ettifaq FC has not gone down well elsewhere due to his previous comments towards the LGBT community that arguably now appear ‘hypocritical’.
Henderson has supported the community for years and it came as a shock to many when he was linked with a transfer to a country where homosexuality is illegal.
The Sunderland-born veteran is yet to confirm his arrival in the Middle East but could complete the switch before the end of the week.
Has Jordan Henderson ended his England career by quitting Liverpool?
Jordan Henderson has certainly ruined any chances of being named in England’s Euro 2024 squad for next summer, though he may have found himself occupying the bench more often than not.

The 32-year-old was a regular during the World Cup, but he probably knows that it is time to allow the younger players to come through and make their mark – something which Gareth Southgate seems to have struggled with.
In fact, Henderson could potentially be replaced by Liverpool teammate in Trent Alexander-Arnold, who featured from midfield in the Three Lions’ latest matches.
Henderson has already made over 75 appearances for England and his time representing his country may have already come to a satisfying ending for him, while he would have to do a lot under Gerrard to remain in Southgate’s plans.
