Dominik Szoboszlai has admitted that he’s been shocked by the intensity of training at Liverpool.

The 22-year-old has impressed everybody at his new club so far, breezing through the pre-season fitness tests showing himself to be in exceptional shape.

But after playing his first game for Liverpool last night, Szoboszlai told Hungarian outlet Nemzeti Sport that he’s actually never seen training like it.

“I was used to hard work, but I have to say that I haven’t had three training sessions in one day in my life, especially not with this intensity,” he said. “After the last training session I would rather get off my bike than ride up the hill. Nevertheless, I really enjoy the exercises.

Szoboszlai also commented on how he’s finding settling in with his new teammates.

“The atmosphere is good, the [team]mates are brilliant, I like the atmosphere,” said the Reds’ No.8. “I’m happy to be here.”

It’s good to hear that Jurgen is putting the lads through their paces just as tough as ever this year.

Coming off the back of a really disappointing season, it’s vital that Liverpool hit the ground running from the very first whistle.

That hard work began to pay off last night, as they got their first taste of pre-season action. It wasn’t always easy against Bundesliga. 2 side Karlsruher SC, but it was the workout the Reds needed.

For Szoboszlai, it was also his first ever game as a Liverpool player. It must have made those gruelling triple sessions worth it.

Now, things should get a little easier. With fitness hopefully back up to scratch following the summer, Klopp will be focused on working on the best shape for his new-look side.

His new No.8 is set to be crucial to that. By the sounds of things, Szoboszlai is ready to do whatever the manager asks of him out on the pitch.

Don’t worry Dom, the running is almost over. But now the real hard work begins!
