Alisson Becker has declared that he ‘loves’ being a Liverpool player, after celebrating five years at the club.
Today marks half-a-decade since we signed Alisson from Roma. In that time, the Brazilian has become a modern great at Anfield, winning a host of team and individual trophies.
And speaking to liverpoolfc.com about his anniversary, Alisson spoke warmly about his time at Liverpool.

“It’s a fresh start from the past five years. I only use those years to remember how good it is to be a Liverpool player,” says the goalie. “How good it is to be part of this family – a big family.
“The team, the supporters, the staff; everybody here, they are amazing. I love this place. I love being a Liverpool player and I want to give my all for the team to achieve our goals and go back to winning again.”
What a man, honestly.
Alisson reaffirms Reds commitment
After the week that we’ve had as Liverpool fans, this is genuinely heartening to hear from Alisson.
Obviously, as supporters, we perhaps have an inflated feeling of what our club means to those who fall under its employ. But nevertheless, we expect the love we give to be reciprocated and appreciated.
Nobody is saying the likes of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho don’t feel, give or appreciate that love. At the same time though, the last few days have been an insight into the thinking of both of those players.

Fabinho you can forgive a little more. The Brazilian has possibly recognised that his powers are on the decline and is fetching Liverpool a decent transfer fee while he’s still got value. Fair enough in some ways.
But Henderson, well, it’s all just a little sad. It’s bad enough that the captain of eight years and player of 12 is trying to force through a move and slink out the back door when told he’s no longer going to be playing every game.
To make matters worse, his proposed new club – Al Ettifaq – seem intent on low-balling Liverpool and even trying to get the 33-year-old for nothing.
In amongst all of that, it’s great to hear that Alisson remains as committed as ever. If Henderson does go, words like these should make him a leading candidate to take over as club captain.
