Liverpool are reportedly considering ACF Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat as a replacement for Fabinho, who is close to a move to Saudi Arabia.

According to the Times, the 26-year-old Morocco international is one of many players Liverpool are considering as an option to succeed Fabinho at Anfield, with the Brazilian midfielder set to complete a transfer to Al-Ittihad next week.

With Fabinho Liverpool’s main defensive midfielder, a replacement will have to be signed before the start of the new Premier League season, and Amrabat has now re-emerged as a potential fix for Jurgen Klopp’s side, with the Fiorentina star strongly linked with Liverpool in January.

Praised as ‘exceptional’ by Jamie O’Hara, Amrabat’s stock remains quite high after the midfielder’s incredible performances for Morocco at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, where the Serie A dynamo played a key role in Morocco’s historic run to the semi-finals.

Indeed, Amrabat has continued his good performances in Italy since returning from the World Cup. And as a replacement for Fabinho, Liverpool might struggle to find a quicker and more suitable fix than the Fiorentina superstar.

Replacing a player like Fabinho for Liverpool will be no easy task. Yet whilst there are options in the market who could one day succeed the 29-year-old, Amrabat is a ready-built player who could easily make the move to Anfield this summer and fill in the void left by the Brazilian.

As we know, the Moroccan international is capable of competing with the best in the world after his exploits in Qatar. And for Liverpool, Amrabat could be the ideal short-term solution to replacing Fabinho this summer.
