Jordan Henderson’s proposed move from Liverpool to Al Ettifaq could now start to move quickly.

Henderson has reportedly agreed an enormous contract with the Saudi Arabian side after being told he doesn’t feature in Jurgen Klopp’s plans.

Corroborating that information on Twitter, journalist Alex Crook claimed that the 33-year-old’s transfer could now ‘develop quickly.’

“Jordan Henderson has now accepted the big-money offer from Saudi Arabia,” Crook reports. “Still no agreement with LFC re a fee but this could develop quickly now.”

Let’s see just how willing Liverpool are to get this one done. Early indications are that unless the Saudi side meet their asking price, Henderson will be going absolutely nowhere.

If things were purely up to Henderson and Al Ettifaq, it looks like this would be completely done and dusted by now.

But, unfortunately for the player and his prospective new club, it isn’t.

Unless Steven Gerrard and co are able to pay the Reds what they want for their skipper, we don’t see how this ‘develops quickly’ at all.

There’s only one development now needed. But that doesn’t necessarily look like it’s going to be imminent.

If they do stump up the cash needed then, yes, things will go quickly. Drag that out though, and it will be really interesting to see what happens next.

Henderson has seemingly made his position at the club a little untenable. In order to push through a move, the 33-year-old is pretty much on the verge of alienating the fanbase.

If he’s forced to climb down and stay at Liverpool, things could get very awkward indeed. It may be in everyone’s best interest if things do indeed move quickly.
