Liverpool are reportedly yet to receive a bid for Jordan Henderson, who is believed to be open to a move to Saudi Arabia to reunite with Steven Gerrard at Al-Ettifaq.
According to the Liverpool Echo, the Middle Eastern club are yet to make their opening offer for the Anfield skipper, with Jurgen Klopp eager to keep hold of Henderson at Liverpool this summer despite the money Al-Ettifaq are offering.
A player that has been described as ‘untouchable’ by journalist Neil Jones, Henderson is seemingly inching towards a move to Saudi Arabia in what will be one of the most shocking transfers of the entire summer, with the midfielder expected to be part of Klopp’s plans for next season.
However, with an offer yet to be submitted by Al-Ettifaq, Henderson’s 12-year stay at Liverpool could continue that much longer if a bid never materialises from Gerrard’s side, something that many supporters and pundits will be hopeful of this summer.
Indeed, Henderson could play a key role for Liverpool next season if the midfielder decides to stay at Anfield. Yet should the captain want to leave, the Reds will be within their right to demand the best possible transfer fee for the England international.
Liverpool have to keep hold of Henderson as tightly as possible
Liverpool are aware of how much Henderson means to the club and to the community, and as a result, the Reds have to do all they can to keep hold of the England international, who can’t be allowed to leave for Saudi Arabia so easily this summer.
As we know, Henderson has been an outstanding captain for Liverpool both on and off the pitch. And losing the skipper this summer to Gerrard’s new Al-Ettifaq would be a disappointing end to what has been an illustrious career for the 33-year-old on Merseyside.
