Liverpool have reportedly asked for just £10m for Jordan Henderson, with Saudi Arabia side Al-Ettifaq pushing hard to sign the Anfield captain.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Reds have made their transfer demands to Steven Gerrard’s side as the Middle Eastern club look to bring in the 33-year-old midfielder as their first major signing under their new manager, with Henderson leaning towards a move as reported by the Athletic.
Lauded by Jurgen Klopp as an ‘oustanding’ player, Henderson moving to Saudi Arabia will be billed as one of the most surprising transfers of the entire summer. Yet this latest update seems to indicate that a transfer is now heading in the right direction for all parties.
Indeed, £10m for a 33-year-old player is not bad business for Liverpool. However, given how important Henderson is to the club, the Reds could be shooting themselves in the foot for allowing the midfielder to leave for such a cheap transfer fee.
Liverpool should be demanding more for Henderson amid Saudi Arabia interest

Liverpool being in a position where Henderson is up for sale is something few fans or pundits would have predicted this summer. Yet this window has coughed up just that, and £10m for a player of the England international’s quality is quite low given everything the midfielder has achieved.
After all, Henderson is a UEFA Champions League-winning and Premier League-winning captain. And with the former Sunderland star still in the prime of his career, Liverpool should be demanding much more for their skipper than just a measily £10m.
