‘Untouchable’ Liverpool player could now reportedly leave this summer

Jordon Henderson could reportedly move to Saudi Arabia, with the Liverpool captain recently linked with a move to Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq.

According to journalist Neil Jones, it’s hard to rule out the 32-year-old Liverpool midfielder making a surprise move to the Middle East even if Henderson is currently viewed as an ‘untouchable’ player in Jurgen Klopp’s squad ahead of the new season.

Although Liverpool have made big moves this summer to improve their midfield, selling a key figure in Henderson would be viewed by many as a strange decision, with Gerrard keen to bring the Anfield captain with him to Saudi Arabia with Al-Ettifaq.

Indeed, Henderson leaving Liverpool, especially for Saudi Araba, seems like an unrealistic transfer. Yet there is a chance the move could happen, with Jones saying: “Fabinho is untouchable and Jordan Henderson logically feels untouchable but there are a lot of stories around him and Saudi Arabia bubbling away.

“Until you get a definitive answer there from the player or club, it’s hard to rule that sort of thing out. He’s in decent shape and is expected back at Kirkby on Tuesday with the rest of the international contingent of Liverpool.”

Henderson becoming a target for a Saudi Arabian side is still quite hard to grasp even if the club in question is managed by Gerrard, and with there now being a genuine chance that the midfielder could make the move, Liverpool have to dig their heels in deep for their captain.

Whilst many fans might be tempted to sell Henderson if a huge offer comes in, the midfielder’s importance to the squad and the club as a whole is hard to ignore, with the 32-year-old also still serving a key function for the team heading into the new season.
