Liverpool have reportedly made a second enquiry to sign Chelsea defender Levi Colwill, with the centre-back emerging as a top target for the Reds.

According to Football London, Liverpool have approached the Blues yet again over the England youth international as Liverpool look to ramp up their efforts on signing a left-sided centre-back, with Colwill seemingly the main player Jurgen Klopp is looking at signing.

A player who is rated highly by Jordan Henderson, Chelsea are eager to keep hold of Colwill this summer, with Fabrizio Romano recently reporting that the west London side view the centre-back as ‘untouchable’ as contract talks continue to take place between parties.

Whilst Chelsea’s stance is as clear as day on their star prospect, that doesn’t mean a move for Colwill is necessarily impossible this summer. And Liverpool are fully aware that they have the power to tempt the defender away from Stamford Bridge.

Indeed, there’s a strong chance that Liverpool will give Colwill more playing time next season with the Reds competing in the UEFA Europa League, with Chelsea’s record of playing young players one of the most dismal in recent years.

Colwill is easily one of the best defensive talents currently playing in England, and for Liverpool, they should feel confident in securing a deal with Chelsea for the centre-back, who could be very keen on a move to Anfield this summer.

As we know, Liverpool is one of the best clubs in the Premier League for a world-class prospect like Colwill to learn the game and to play regular minutes in the top-flight, and the defender could become a mainstay for Klopp if he is to join and impress in Europe and cup competitions.
