Tottenham Hotspur are beginning to worry about Liverpool’s interest in transfer target Edmond Tapsoba.
The Reds are in the market for a centre-back this summer and have been tentatively linked with Taposba. However, the main interest in the Bayer Leverkusen man is seemingly coming from Spurs.
Echoing that today, 90min claim that the North Londoners are deep in discussion with Tapsoba over joining them.

However, nothing is done yet. And Spurs are reportedly ‘concerned’ over ‘growing interest’ in the 24-yeasr-old from their Premier League rivals. Liverpool are one of the sides said to be worrying Tottenham, along with Manchester United and Newcastle.
There is some good news for Ange Postecoglou though, with Micky van de Ven claimed to be set to join from Wolfsburg.
Van de Ven is said to have been wanted by Liverpool, but there is now an expectation that he’ll be heading to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Maybe the Reds will look for some payback with Tapsoba.
Spurs keeping an eye on Liverpool
On paper, Tapsoba does look like the kind of player Liverpool could be targeting. Young but experienced, proven at a high level but not at the very highest level, ready for the step up.
We do also know that the Reds are keen to recruit a centre-back this summer, if the right player becomes availble.
Having said all that though, we can’t see Tapsoba being that man. That’s nothing to do with his quality – his heading ability alone has been called ‘frightening’ by budesliga.com, he’ll be a top signing for whoever gets him.

But it’s been well publicised that Liverpool are only in the market for a left-footed defender this summer. Tapsoba isn’t a left-footer.
As a result, we’d be surprised if the Reds do try to muscle in on Tottenham in this one.
It’d perhaps be more likely that they decided to follow up on their interest of Van de Ven. But with Spurs seemingly already making their move to sign the Dutchman, Liverpool don’t seem especially bothered about fighting then.
So, if Jurgen Klopp does bring in a defender, we don’t think it will actually be either of these two. Let’s get the midfield out of the way and then see if some other names start coming up. Spurs have nothing to worry about here, from Liverpool at least.
