Dominik Szoboszlai says he has sought the advice of Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland after completing a move to Liverpool.

Szoboszlai officially became Liverpool’s second signing of the summer on Sunday, joining after a whirlwind four days. And speaking to Hungarian outlet Nemzeti Sport via Liverpool Echo upon confirmation of his move to Anfield, the 22-year-old admitted he’d asked for help from a famous former teammate.

“We’ve talked,” Szoboszlai admited when asked about the man he played alongside for RB Salzburg. “So much so that Erling Haaland has also advised on finding real estate, and it could very well be that we become neighbours.

“I learned from him that several players live halfway between Manchester and Liverpool in a quiet area where privacy can be preserved, and on Monday I will see what he was talking about, I am very curious.

“And of course, putting our friendship aside during the Liverpool-Manchester City matches, it will surely be a fantastic experience to play against each other.”

As well as name-dropping Haaland, Szoboszlai also confirmed that he’s set to begin training with Liverpool next Tuesday, July 11th.

“I’ll do some training on Monday, I have some paperwork to do, and then look at some potential properties where I’d like to live,” said the Hungarian.

“Then I have to go to Leipzig, pack up my stuff, say goodbye to my former club, thank everyone for their support, love and encouragement and then to Budapest. But on the 10th at the latest I will be back in Liverpool, because on the 11th I will be training for my new team.”

With Liverpool set to return a few days earlier on the 8th, Szoboszlai won’t quite have a full, full pre-season with the Reds. But it’s as near as dammit.

As a result, we wouldn’t be at all surprised to see him line up against Chelsea on August 13th. It all depends on how quickly he can settle in.

If he wants inspiration, then he need only look at his former colleague, Haaland. The 23-year-old hit the ground running at City and never looked back.

Should Szoboszlai have a similar impact, then Liverpool will be on to an absolute winner. No pressure then, Dom!
