Valencia have put reported Liverpool target Yunus Musah up for sale this summer, with £17m enough to sign him.

That’s according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, who provided an update on Musah’s situation on Twitter last night.

“Valencia are open to sell Yunus Musah this summer after they turned down all approaches last January, including a verbal bid from Chelsea,” said the journalist. “Understand €20m [£17m] fee could be enough to sign USMNT midfielder.”

Musah on the market

Although Romano doesn’t mention Liverpool directly, they have been linked with the 20-year-old in the past. The most recent of those reports came at the end of April, with claims that the Reds were actively scouting the USA international.

Since then, there hasn’t been too much in the way of concrete links. But with Musah clearly a player of interest, maybe that will now change.

£17m is a superb price for a player who has been called ‘incredible’ by his former Valencia manager Jose Bordelas. With Liverpool looking for value for money in the market, they won’t find much better than this..

Another potential boost for the Reds would be the fact that Musah spent ages 10-17 at Arsenal. As a result, he should qualify as a home-grown player. Liverpool are currently a little full on their overseas player remit so this would be attractive to them.

On top of all that though, the Valencia man simply looks like a potentially excellent player. Having already played over 100 games for the Spanish side by the age of 20, he’s held his own in La Liga.

Musah also has 27 caps for the USA, and really stood out during last year’s World Cup.

So, he may not be top of Liverpool supporters’ wish list’s this summer, but at this kind of price, we’d be happy to see the Reds take the plunge.
