Liverpool scouts were in attendance to watch Yunus Musah play for Valencia on Thursday evening.
Musah is reportedly a target for Liverpool ahead of the summer transfer window. With that in mind, 90min claim that the Reds’ talent-spotters travelled to Spain to watch the 20-year-old feature in Valencia’s 2-1 win over Real Valladolid.
They weren’t the only ones to do so, though. Arsenal are also said to have been keeping a close eye on their former academy star. The Gunners are aclaimed to have been watching Valladolid’s Ivan Fresneda, too. The right-back has reportedly been on Liverpool’s radar too, but Musah was the focus of their attention last night.
Liverpool covering all bases
Musah is a name that’s been mentioned only tentatively in regards to a move to Liverpool this summer. That the Reds were keeping an eye on him isn’t unusual, though.
As things stand they appear to have a list of more than a dozen names who could potentially join. It’s just good practice to watch them live in the flesh whenever possible.
They didn’t get to see a goal-scoring display from Musah last night, but he did end up on the winning team.

It doesn’t sound like the kind of ‘spectacular’ display Sporting News credited him with during the World Cup. But in the bigger picture, whatever he did or didn’t do against Valladolid will have little bearing on whether the Reds decide to sign him. They’ll already have a good idea of where they stand.
Should they decide to pursue the USA international further, it seems likely that Valencia will sell him this summer. Deep financial troubles have befallen the Spanish side and Musah is reportedly ready to jump ship.
As they’re blatantly in the market for midfielders in the coming months, it’s wise for Liverpool to keep abreast of his situation. Musah is far from the only one they’re watching right now, but it sounds as though he is one of them.
