Levi Colwill is reportedly a player Liverpool love, yet the Reds are not convinced that they will be able to sign the Chelsea centre-back this summer.

Speaking to Empire of the Kop, Goal journalist Neil Jones revealed that the England youth international is a talent that Jurgen Klopp’s side are huge fans of, though a move is unlikely to happen this summer with Chelsea already rejecting a £40m bid for the defender from Brighton & Hove Albion.

Colwill was one of the breakout talents in the Premier League last season after a successful loan spell with the Seagulls. And for Liverpool, their hunt for a left-sided central defender has seemingly taken them to the 20-year-old, even if he is off-limits.

The Chelsea academy product ticks all the right boxes for Liverpool, yet despite how perfect Colwill would be for the Merseyside giants, the odds on the Reds actually signing the defender could be next to zero, with Mauricio Pochettino seemingly having plans for the youngster next season.

Jones said when asked about who Liverpool could sign next in the summer transfer window: “I think Levi Colwill is one they love, I don’t think there’s any chance they’re going to get him but I think they love him, there’s no question about that, as a player.”

Chelsea’s current stance on Colwill is very clear for all to see, but that doesn’t mean things will remain the same as the window progresses, with Liverpool likely already thinking that a move for the defender could be on the cards as the summer continues.

As we know, Chelsea have not made a definitive decision on if the youngster will start next season. And should the Blues’ true intentions with Colwill fail to match the defender’s expectations, Liverpool could move at the end of the window to sign the England youth international.
