Fabio Carvalho is happy to leave Liverpool, as they enter into talks over a loan deal with RB Leipzig.

News broke this morning that the 20-year-old is Germany-bound, on the verge of completing a temporary move away from Anfield. This afternoon, The Athletic have shed a little more light on the situation.

They claim that Carvalho is ‘keen on the idea’ of a move to Leipzig, having ‘fallen out of favour’ under Jurgen Klopp.

And although Liverpool are said to have ‘no interest’ in selling the former Fulham man, they’re reportedly ‘open’ to the idea of a loan without option to buy.

Fortunately for the Reds, that’s exactly what looks like happening. Having had a ‘derisory’ £10m offer rejected recently, Leipzig appear ready to accept Liverpool’s terms. Talks continue.

Carvalho set for Leipzig loan

All in all, this looks like being the right move for Carvalho. Another season spent on the periphery at Liverpool would have done nobody any good.

Instead, he now has the chance to go out and prove himself once again at a very high level.

It’s worth noting that RB Leipzig will play in the Champions League next season, for example. Liverpool, of course, will not.

The Red Bull club are also notorious for bringing through and nurturing young talent. They’ll have a plan for Carvalho and will hopefully be able to get the best out of him.

Then, with a full year of first team football under his belt, he’ll surely be more ready to have a proper go at breaking into Liverpool’s first team.

Certainly, he doesn’t need to do all that much to impress Klopp. The Reds manager recently labelled Carvalho as being ‘outstanding,’ hailing his work-rate and attitude in training.

With Jurgen, that’s half the battle. He’ll be as keen for Carvalho to make the grade at Anfield as anyone. But first, it looks like he’ll have to earn his stripes out in Germany. The best move for everyone.
