Chelsea have reportedly joined the race to sign Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella, with Liverpool heavily linked with a move for the Italian international.
According to 90min, the Blues view the 26-year-old maestro as an option this summer as Mauricio Pochettino looks to overhaul his midfield options in the summer transfer window, with Barella now expected to leave Inter amid growing interest.
CalcioMercato recently reported that Liverpool are one of many sides interested in signing Barella, who could be sold this summer for as much as £77m. Yet based on Chelsea’s spending under Todd Boehly, this is a figure that could easily be matched by the west London side.

With Chelsea not afraid to also throw wages at players worth their value, Barella could become one of the highest-earning midfielders in the Premier League should the Inter star opt for a move to Stamford Bridge over Liverpool, even without European football on the cards.
Indeed, Steven Gerrard himself lauded Barella as a ‘world-class’ player, and although Anfield could be the dream destination for the Italian, the money of Chelsea could be too tempting for the Serie A superstar, much to Liverpool’s dismay.
Liverpool have to stop Chelsea from signing Barella this summer

Barella is one of the best midfielders in Europe and would be a welcome addition for virtually every club on the continent. And for Liverpool, the Merseyside giants have to do all they can to stop the Italian from joining Chelsea this summer.
As we know, Jurgen Klopp’s side are eager to sign numerous midfielders this window, and Barella’s creative abilities could be perfect for a club like Liverpool, who also have a better club profile for the player in question than a team like Chelsea, even with Pochettino now at the helm.
