Liverpool are one of the front-runners to sign Benjamin Pavard from Bayern Munich this summer.
Pavard has been tentatively linked with a move to Anfield as he prepares to seek a new challenge. But according to journalist Christian Falk for CaughtOffside, Liverpool are now a ‘hot candidate’ to sign the 27-year-old.
“Benjamin Pavard has informed the club that he wants to move in the summer,” wrote the journalsit. “His agents are already talking to other clubs.

“Among them, Liverpool is now a hot candidate. Previously, Chelsea and Barcelona were already known to be interested, as well as Italian clubs AC and Inter Milan.”
That’s quite a crowded group of clubs, most of whom can offer Champions League football to Pavard. But our interest is piqued.
Liverpool ready to enter Pavard race
We can’t deny it, we’d really, really like to see this happen. Pavard is an extremely versatile defender who could alleviate Liverpool’s depth issues at right and centre-back.
An elite passer and an excellent technician, the World Cup winner was called ‘world-class’ by manager Niko Kovac back in 2018 [Buli News]. Five years have passed since Kovac’s comments, but the label still stands up today.
He isn’t the long-term successor to Virgil van Dijk that Liverpool probably need to sign, but in the short-term he’ll more than do.

Some supporters may turn their noses up at Pavard, though. At twenty-seven, some may – bizarrely – feel that his best days are behind him.
But with his price-tag reportedly set to be around £25m, what is there not to like.
Liverpool have reportedly identified Josko Gvardiol as the ‘gold standard’ replacement for Van Dijk when the time comes. The RB Leipzig man won’t be sold during this year’s summer window, though.
As a result, doesn’t it make sense to reinforce our back line with quality and versatility before going and getting the top target next year? For us, it most certainly does. With that in mind, Pavard could well be the perfect signing. Get it done, Reds!
