Liverpool managed to find themselves an absolute bargain with the signing of Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton.
That’s the view of TalkSPORT pundit Ray Parlour. The former Arsenal midfielder was reacting to the news that Liverpool appear to have brought the World Cup winner in for a relatively paltry £35m.
“I watched him quite a few times this year, I know he’s a world cup winner as well, but when I’ve ever seen him play live he’s been brilliant, really top class. I think Liverpool have got a real bargain now, £35m!” Parlour raved.
Liverpool find themselves a bargain
Whatever way you slice it, Liverpool have just done some brilliant, brilliant business. Without wanting to jump the gun, everything about the Mac Allister signing looks absolutely perfect.
Of course, we’ll never know the full exact details of his price-tag. While there have been numerous reports that the final fee will indeed be £35m, others have claimed it could yet reach £55m, with bonuses.
To be quite honest, we’re inclined to lean towards the smaller fee. The likes of The Times reporter Paul Joyce and renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano have claimed the £35m figure to be accurate.

Meanwhile, suggestions of a higher price have tended to come from Brighton based reporters.
With the Seagulls obviously inclined to slap a higher number on their former player, we’d perhaps take those claims with a pinch of salt.
Whatever the eventual figure, it’s clear that Liverpool have got themselves a very good player. Even at £55m, it wouldn’t feel a bad price.
But shave £20m off that, and you may just have one of the Premier League’s real steals. To put it into context, that’s the price Liverpool paid for Andy Carroll back in 2011. Not to do big Andy C down or anything, but we’re backing Alexis to be a better value signing.
