Liverpool talking about signing 24-year-old player from Leeds

Liverpool are discussing the possibility of signing midfielder Tyler Adams from Leeds United.

Adams had a good season with Leeds, impressing in the early parts of the campaign after arriving from RB Leipzig. Injury ultimately prevented him playing a bigger role and he couldn’t stop his team going down. But his personal displays have reportedly attracted interest from the Reds as they assess the market.

Backing up those claims today, 90min report that the 24-year-old is firmly on Jurgen Klopp’s radar. As they prepare to tick Alexis Mac Allister off their summer shortlist, it seems that Adams could be next.

They claim that the USA international has been the subject of internal conversations at Liverpool.

He certainly isn’t the only one, though. 90min write that as well as talks getting underway for Manu Kone and Khephren Thuram, Liverpool actively ‘admire’ Ryan Gravenberch, Youri Tielemans and Ruben Neves. Meanwhile, they reportedly remain in the race for Mason Mount, too.

Adams an option for Liverpool

Some supporters will no doubt be quick to dismiss the possibility of Adams arriving at Anfield. He perhaps isn’t as glamorous as some of the other reported targets and has just gone down with Leeds.

But we actually think the USA captain could be a smart little signing.

As anyone who watched him over the last season will attest, Adams is a little terrier. He just doesn’t stop. Running, tackling, harassing, talking, he’s got the legs and energy that Liverpool have badly been missing.

Of course, legs alone shouldn’t be enough to get into this Reds team, and it isn’t. But Adams has also shown – both at the World Cup and in the Champions League with Leipzig – that he can perform at a higher level.

With a first class attitude, a lung capacity to match and plenty of room still to improve, he could be a good addition.

It’s also worth pointing out that he’d be affordable for Liverpool. Despite fantasies of the Reds spending huge amounts on players this summer, it’s now clear that that isn’t going to happen.

Instead, players up to the value of around £40-50m are the ones looking like being more likely. Adams would surely be easily get-able for that price. He may not be first choice, but Liverpool have often done quite well out of such deals. Let’s see if anything more concrete turns up.
