TalkSPORT journalist Alex Crook has been speaking about Liverpool’s pursuit of Alexis Mac Allister this morning.
Mac Allister has emerged as Liverpool’s main midfield target this summer. A number of reports in recent weeks have claimed a deal is edging closer, although nothing has been confirmed from either end yet.
But according to Crook, Liverpool fans can start to get excited about the Mac Allister deal.
Liverpool edging closer to Alexis Mac Allister signing
Speaking on TalkSPORT this morning about a number of transfer rumours, Crook confirmed that as it stands, Liverpool are edging ever nearer to signing the Argentinian.
“I think we’re getting closer to a decsion for Alexis Mac Allister. He was in tears after Brighton’s last home game of the season. Liverpool are very much in the box seat for that one. He’s Jurgen Klopp’s top target as they look to revamp the midfield,” Crook said.
“I would expect that to come to a head pretty early actually once the window opens. We may even get more clarity between now and the end of the week.”
The Reds could pay as much as £70m for the World Cup winner. However, there are multiple reports on the fee as well and in the end, it could end up being the dreaded ‘undisclosed’.
RTK’s View: All done but the announcement
All roads point to the Reds having got this one over the line. There will be I’s to be dotted and T’s to be crossed, but it does look like we’ve got our man.
Mac Allister is just what this team needs. His form for Brighton has been excellent and it’s obvious why Klopp wants to bring him to Anfield.
Hopefully, we can get an announcement soon and it can kickstart a big summer for the Reds in what is likely to be a busy window.
