Liverpool are now reportedly aiming to sign Alexis Mac Allister as quickly as possible in fear that a potential deal for the midfielder could be hijacked.
According to CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs, the Reds are eager to wrap up the Brighton & Hove Albion star’s move to Anfield amid growing concerns that a rival club could make a late swoop for the 24-year-old, with Liverpool seemingly stalling over the £70m fee.
Mac Allister is expected to become Liverpool’s first signing of the summer as Jurgen Klopp looks to add multiple midfielders to his squad in the coming weeks, with the Argentine set to be the most expensive addition the Reds make in the transfer window.

Indeed, Liverpool signing Mac Allister could take longer than people might expect. Yet the Merseyside giants are now hoping to beat the clock to land the midfielder, with Jacobs saying: “Mac Allister has made it clear to Brighton that he wants to leave since after the World Cup.
“The club won’t stand in his way, but I do expect them to get a decent price. They handled the Mac Allister situation smartly by getting him to extend just before the World Cup thus protecting his value. Liverpool now want to move fast to avoid any late suitors attempting to hijack.”
Liverpool speedrunning Mac Allister deal should be the new approach

Liverpool are now aware that a deal to sign Mac Allister could slip through their fingers if they take too long to strike a deal with Brighton. And as a result, speedrunning their way through this transfer should be the new approach from the Anfield giants.
Everyone and their mother knows by now that Mac Allister wants a move to Liverpool, yet with the Reds stalling on a deal, Klopp and his team are not doing any favours in taking this long to draw out the process and to try and get the best deal possible from a club as stubborn as Brighton.
