Mason Mount has reportedly agreed personal terms to join Manchester United, with the Chelsea star set to snub Liverpool despite months of interest.

According to the Telegraph, the England international is one step closer to signing for the Red Devils after reaching an agreement with Erik Ten Hag’s side, a deal that, as per the report, will be a massive blow for Liverpool and for Jurgen Klopp.

The Reds have been heavily linked with Mount and many expected Liverpool to win the race for the Chelsea playmaker. However, United’s interest has ramped up massively in recent weeks, and the Old Trafford giants now look ready to sign the 24-year-old from the Blues.

Praised as ‘outstanding’ by Paul Merson, Mount was viewed by many as the perfect creative signing for Liverpool as well as the ideal player for Klopp to get their hands on and to morph into a world-class talent. However, United have now beaten them to the punch.

Indeed, missing out on Mount will be a big blow for the Merseyside giants. Yet with the Reds pipping United to Cody Gakpo in the January transfer window, Liverpool have been firmly avenged by their Premier League rivals with a transfer that could shape both clubs’ fortunes next season.

Mount could have been a dream addition for Liverpool this summer despite Chelsea’s financial demands for the midfielder, and at United, the playmaker could now easily become an opponent to be feared given how likely it now is that the 24-year-old will regain his form.

With Ten Hag one of the best coaches in the Premier League, there’s no telling what direction Mount could now head in under the Dutchman. However, for Liverpool supporters, they know that the midfielder could now become a superstar at United if the England international can find his groove again in Manchester.
