Danny Welbeck has heaped praise on Moises Caicedo amid growing links that Liverpool want to sign the 21-year-old Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder.
Speaking to ESPN UK, the Seagulls attacker lauded the Ecuador international as ‘my idol’ having enjoyed a breakout season in the Premier League, with Caicedo now expected to leave Brighton this summer despite leading Roberto De Zerbi’s side to a UEFA Europa League finish.

As reported by Goal, Liverpool are interested in Caicedo and could move to sign the South American talent having already won the race to sign his Brighton teammate Alexis Mac Allister, with the Reds overhauling their midfield as their main transfer priority.
Although the 21-year-old could command a fee as high as £100m, Caicedo’s performances this season have arguably warranted that sort of fee from Brighton’s perspective, and Welbeck’s praise for the midfielder could only add more fuel to Liverpool’s fire in signing the youngster.
Liverpool have to take a gamble and push to sign Caicedo
Caicedo’s stock has flown through the roof over the last nine months, and heading into this summer, there is every chance that the biggest transfer battle in the Premier League could now spark over the Ecuador international, something Liverpool have to ensure they are a part of.
Whilst Brighton’s asking price for Caicedo could be too much for Liverpool to meet, the midfielder is simply too good a talent to ignore this summer, and if there is even a sliver of a chance that the 21-year-old could move to Anfield, the Reds have to take that chance in the coming weeks.
