Reported Liverpool target Alexis Mac Allister already has a firm agreement that he can leave Brighton in June.
Argentinian outlets were full of some big news on Saturday afternoon, as they reported that Mac Allister to Liverpool is a done deal. Giving his own take on this information to his YouTube channel yesterday evening, journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed that this was jumping the gun slightly.
“Now, Liverpool – who have always been front-runners for Mac Allister – are really close to completing the agreement on personal terms with Mac Allister and with his camp, with his family who are taking care of his future,” began the transfer expert. “So, the agreement between Mac Allister and Liverpool is really, really close, it’s about the final details. The deal is not done yet but it’s very, very advanced. Liverpool are confident to get it done in the next weeks.”

That sounds incredibly encouraging. However, Romano did temper this with a suggestion that there could be a late twist in this transfer saga. As they always seem to be these days, Chelsea could be lurking.
“It’s not completed yet, first of all Liverpool need to complete something on the players side, then it will be done, and also because Mauricio Pochettino appreciates the player,” he said.
“Chelsea and especially Pochettino appreciate Mac Allister. But at the moment Chelsea have not made any proposal because their priority is a different kind of midfielder – a No.6, a defensive midfielder. The situation could change, we will see at the end of the season, but Liverpool are front-runners and the talks are very advanced.”
Mac Allister strikes Brighton agreement
If potential interest from Chelsea may prove to be a banana skin, then it seems Brighton trying to keep Mac Allister will not. That’s because – according to Romano – the Seagulls have already agreed privately agreed to let the World Cup winner leave in the coming months.
“Between the clubs, no problem with Brighton,” said the reporter. “From what I understand, there’s already a fixed amount decided to let Mac Allister leave the club in June. Between Brighton and Mac Allister this was discussed when he extended the contract and so it’s just a matter of agreement with the player and then to pay Brighton.
“So, Liverpool are really close to complete their first signing for next season, Alexis Mac Allister.”

Liverpool finalising first deal of the summer
There was a lot of frustration and sadness yesterday for Liverpool fans. The 1-1 draw with Aston Villa virtually guaranteed they’ll be playing Europa League football next season. Meanwhile, the subsequent goodbyes that followed were enough to bring a tear to anyone’s eye.
But amidst all of that, it looks very, very likely that the Reds’ first signing of a busy summer is drawing nearer. And what a signing he could be too. It’s been a decade since Liverpool last had a World Cup winner on the pitch for them. High time we had another.
In terms of price, the Argentine outlets have reported a figure of £70m for Mac Allister. But speaking to House of Champions yesterday, Romano said it would be ‘less than £65m.’ That sounds more like. Let’s wait and see what happens next with this one.
