Argentine journalist Gaston Edul has reported that Alexis Mac Allister is set to become a Liverpool player.
While the Reds were focused on their 1-1 draw with Aston Villa this afternoon, the journalist took to Twitter to drop a huge update.
“Alexis Mac Allister is going to be a Liverpool player,” Edul simply tweeted.

The news was seemingly backed up by another journalist – the renowned Fabrizio Romano. Also writing on Twitter, Romano retweeted his updated from May 4th that Liverpool had ‘presented their project and proposals to Mac Allister.’
Issuing an update today, the journalist simply added an Argentine flag and a red circle to his tweet. We think we know what that means!
Mac Allister gives Liverpool silver lining
Today is undoubtedly all about one South American playmaker at Anfield. But just about the time Roberto Firmino was bagging one last goal in-front of the Kop, these two journalists dropped the big news about another player from the continent.
Mac Allister is certainly not a Firmino replacement – who could be, right? But he does look like a player Liverpool could really do with right now.
Today’s draw with Villa only served to highlight their deficiencies in midfield.

With Curtis Jones, Fabinho and Jordan Henderson starting once again, they were outbattled and overrun by Villa’s younger trio.
They need fresh legs, badly. Thankfully Mac Allister will provide that and much more besides.
It must be noted that this isn’t reported as being a done deal yet. But the updates from both Edul and Romano would suggest that things are moving very quickly and very positively.
Coupled with the result, today has been a desperately sad and disappointing day for Liverpool fans. However, it could yet have a positive lining.
