Roberto Firmino sends Instagram message to Liverpool’s fans after last night’s game

Roberto Firmino has thanked the Liverpool fans who sung his name during last night’s 3-0 win over Leicester City.

Firmino didn’t get on the pitch last night – injury once again ruling him out. But that didn’t stop the travelling Kop from belting out his famous song for minutes on end at the King Power Stadium. It’s set to be an emotional week for Bobby as he gears up for his Anfield farewell on Saturday.

And taking to Instagram ahead of that dreaded goodbye, Firmino thanked Liverpool fans for their endless support of him.

“Well done boys… What a great win tonight. I’m so grateful to God for the unbelievable affection and love with me and my family,” wrote the Brazilian. “Thank you all Reds. YNWA.”

Time to say goodbye to Bobby

Last night was so positive from a Liverpool point of view. Three goals, three points and the possibility of Champions League football next season still very much alive.

But among all of that, perhaps the best image of the night belonged to Firmino. Emerging from the bench at the end of the game, the 31-year-old giggled with teammates as he was pushed to take in the adulation of the Reds crowd.

It was the culmination of a serenading that lasted perhaps a full 10 minutes prior to Trent Alexander-Arnold‘s goal. And then more once the whistle had blown.

These fans love their No.9, that much is abundantly clear. After eight years, the place absolutely isn’t going to be the same without him.

So loved is Firmino that you expect this won’t be the last season his name is sung over and over again. He may be leaving, but he truly is leaving as a legend.

The full extent of Liverpool supporter’s love towards Bobby will surely be seen at Anfield this weekend. Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that the Brazil international is in contention to play against Aston Villa and he’s certain to get as loud-a reception as anyone ever has at Liverpool’s home.

Can we rule out a 90-minute rendition of Si Senor? No, I don’t think we can! Maybe we’ll even catch a certain Philippe Coutinho humming along from the Villa side line? Thanks for everything, Bobby, see you Saturday.
