Jurren Timber has issued a cryptic transfer message about his next destination amid growing reports that Liverpool are interested in signing the Ajax defender.
Speaking to Voetbal Primeur, the Dutch international teased that the club he wants to sign for has to suit his style of play whilst also giving Timber a chance to earn regular minutes, with 90min recently claiming that the 21-year-old is a target for Liverpool.
And the defender made an unusual comment on his future, with Timber saying: “It’s the same situation as last season. When I say I’m leaving, it has to fit. The style of play and playing minutes, and competing for prizes is important. My favourite country? I dare not say.”
With a reported asking price of £44m, Timber would be quite the costly signing for Liverpool this summer, however, with Jurgen Klopp keen to bring in a defender and the Ajax star able to play both centre-back and right-back, the Dutchman could be an ideal addition in the window.
Moreover, with Timber essentially confirming that he will leave Ajax at the end of this season, Liverpool could be a good next destination for the defender, especially when you consider how similar the two sides are when it comes to philosophies and style of play.

Timber is one of the most highly-rated defenders in all of Europe in his age group, and with the 21-year-old again throwing more fuel into the fire that he will leave Ajax this summer, Liverpool have to strike when the iron is hot to bring the youngster to Anfield.
Versatile and capable of filling in for the likes of Virgil van Dijk or even Trent Alexander-Arnold, Timber ticks a lot of boxes for what Liverpool want in a defender this summer, and the centre-back’s latest comments seem to suggest that he would be open on a move to the Premier League.
