Liverpool youngster Jarell Quansah has been named in England’s U-20 squad for the upcoming FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina.

As per England’s official website, the 20-year-old centre-back has been picked in Ian Foster’s 21-man squad as the sole Liverpool representative for this summer’s competition, where the Three Lions will be one of the favourites to win the U-20 World Cup.

High-profile names such as Chelsea’s Carney Chukwuemeka, Bristol City’s Alex Scott and Manchester City’s Liam Delap have also been selected for England’s squad that will look to add the U-20 World Cup to their growing trophy cabinet. and Quansah will be looking to start.

The Warrington-born centre-back has spent half the year out on loan with League One side Bristol Rovers, where Quansah finished 17th as the defender impressed manager Joey Barton during his short stint at the club, with the 40-year-old labelling the Liverpool talent as ‘excellent’.

Indeed, with Peterborough United’s Ronnie Edwards expected to arrive in South America late due to the EFL play-offs, there’s a good chance that Quansah will get the nod from Foster to start in England’s opening match against Tunisia on May 22nd, where good performances in Argentina could lead to opportunities next season.

At 20-years-old, the chances of Quansah breaking into Liverpool’s senior team seem slim, especially with Jurgen Klopp looking to sign a defender this summer to add to his centre-back options, yet the youngster could impress some potential suitors with his performances out in Argentina.

With Quansah likely to start, the defender will have a golden opportunity to impress scouts who will likely flock to this year’s competition for the next big thing, and if England can enjoy a deep run at the U-20 World Cup, there’s no telling where the Liverpool talent could end up.
