Liverpool have decided not to pursue a move for OGC Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram this summer.
Thuram has been one of the players most linked with a move to Anfield over the coming months. But according to The Daily Mail, it’s now unlikely that Liverpool will make concrete steps to sign him.
They claim that although the Reds have indeed ‘tracked’ the 22-year-old, they are ‘not expected’ to take their interest any further at this stage.

Instead, Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister and Mason Mount of Chelsea are said to be Liverpool’s ‘prime candidates.’
Moves for that Premier League pair do look expensive and slightly awkward to get done, though. Perhaps if the Reds fail to land either then Thuram will come back into the equation.
Liverpool cool interest in Thuram
If Liverpool are worried about price in the transfer market – and they usually are – then it would make sense to keep Thuram in their minds.
The France international is reportedly get-able at around £31m this summer. Contrast that to the £70m or £80m for Mac Allister and Mount and you can see Thuram’s appeal to Liverpool.

Obviously, there’s a reason other targets are valued higher. But bigger costs don’t always equal better players and Thuram looks to be a real talent.
Extremely tall and rangy, the Nice man has bags of experience for a young player and could add steel and a goal-scoring threat to the Reds midfield.
If Liverpool don’t pursue him, it seems likely that Thuram will end up at one of their Premier League rivals. In that scenario there’s always the possibility that the Reds will be made to really regret their decision to leave him alone.
Liverpool will have their reasons, though. Although they’ve made some recent missteps in the market, they generally get things spot on. If they believe better targets are out there, then we’ll give them the benefit of the doubt.
