Liverpool are now deemed the front-runners in the race to sign OGC Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram this summer.

That’s according to InterLive.it, who have shared an update on the Reds’s pursuit of the 22-year-old in a report about Inter Milan star Nicolo Barella.

Jurgen Klopp dreams of adding the 26-year-old to his squad, but it is said that his £62m price-tag could prove to be prohibitive.

As a result, the Merseyside outfit have been on the hunt for more affordable options, and they have identified Thuram as a suitable signing.

Liverpool join Inter, Napoli and AC Milan with interest in the Frenchman.

Despite this, it’s claimed the Reds are the club who seem ‘stronger than anyone’ in the race to secure the player’s services.

It’s believed an offer between £28.3m and £31m could be enough to lure Thuram away from Nice.

Liverpool deemed front-runners for Thuram

With Liverpool out of the race to sign Jude Bellingham, the club need to identify alternative targets to pursue in the summer.

Standing at 6ft 4inches tall, Thuram would add a physical presence to the side’s midfield, so he could be a great option for Klopp.

At just 22-years-old, he still has years and years left before he reaches his peak, meaning he is only going to get better as a player.

For half the price of players who are four to five years older than him, the France international would be an excellent cost-efficient option.

As Liverpool need numerous midfield additions this summer, his arrival would allow the club to spread their money elsewhere – so we would definitely love to see a move come to fruition.
