Arsenal are reportedly losing interest in signing Valencia midfielder Yunus Musah, with Liverpool recently linked with the USA international.
According to USMNT pundit and legend Eric Wynalda, the Gunners view the 20-year-old talent as a backup option to their current backup options, with Musah a former Arsenal academy star before taking his talents to Spain, where the youngster has blossomed.
90min recently claimed that Liverpool are also chasing Musah, though despite the midfielder having a reported £88m release clause, Valencia’s struggles this season could force the La Liga side into a cheaper sale to offset their financial and squad issues.

A move to Arsenal was always likely for Musah given Mikel Arteta’s need for a central midfielder and the youngster’s links to north London. However, Wynalda’s recent comments have now suggested that the Liverpool target is close to dropping off the Gunners transfer list.
The 53-year-old said: “Musah is not in a good spot at the moment with Valencia, however, his performances have been enough to warrant interest. Musah is on a list of players that Arsenal are targeting but certainly is not at the top of the list. There are several other targets that still hold the upper hand. He’s a back-up plan to a back-up plan.”
Arsenal dropping Musah interest could be massive for Liverpool

Musah might not be a key target for Liverpool at the time of writing, but as we know, things can change very quickly in the transfer market, and the Reds could soon make a move for the young American if Arsenal do indeed drop out of the race for the midfielder.
At 20, Musah has already earned a name for himself in a top division in La Liga with Valencia, and with the midfielder impressing out in Qatar with the USMNT, the former Arsenal academy star could be quite the addition for Liverpool, especially of they can negotiate down the £88m release clause.
