Marco Silva raves about what £67m player did for Liverpool against Fulham tonight

Fulham manager Marco Silva has praised Alisson Becker for a save he made during Liverpool’s 1-0 win this evening.

That Silva’s side failed to equalise on the night was largely down to Alisson, who made one stunning save from Carlos Vinicius. Commenting on that 75th-minute save to BBC Sport after the game, the Portuguese coach tipped his hat to Liverpool’s ‘keeper.

“Alisson in that moment did so well,” Silva raved. “It was a very good counter-attack from us. Credit to Alisson in that moment and to Willian and Carlos Vinicius to create that.”

Alisson keeps on delivering

What more can you say about Alisson. The £67m man has underlined his importance to Liverpool and then some throughout this turbulent campaign.

Even with others around him now finally raising their levels, the Brazilian is still finding ways to out perform them. This save from Vinicius was just another example of him doing just that.

With it, Alisson undoubtedly saved Liverpool two points. Had the Fulham man squeezed his shot past the goalie late in the game, the Reds didn’t really look like having the tools or the will to go on and win the game.

Jurgen Klopp spoke post-game about how much the clean sheet meant to Alisson. It was his first in six Premier League games, a 12th of the season and a 99th of his Liverpool career. As he continues to go from strength to strength, the 100th won’t be far away at all.

All in all, it has possibly been Alisson’s best season in a Liverpool shirt on a personal level. Hopefully he can maintain that form as the Reds mount a resurgence next season.

Until then, expect Liverpool’s No.1 to continue to show why he’s the very best in the business. There’s no-one we’d rather have keeping goal for the Reds.
