Liverpool are trying to sign Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella, but the player doesn’t want the move.
That’s according to Sportmediaset (as relayed by FC Inter News), who claim Jurgen Klopp is eyeing up an offer for the 26-year-old this summer.
Whilst teams from England and France are interested in the Italian, the Reds are very keen to bring him to Anfield at the end of the season.
The Merseyside outfit are said to be planning to make a £75m bid to sign Barella.
However, the player has no intention of leaving Inter, as a move doesn’t really appeal to him at the moment.
Barella doesn’t want to join Liverpool
If Liverpool aren’t willing to spend time negotiating for Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham in case they fail to sign him, then it’s also pointless bidding for Barella.
If the 26-year-old doesn’t want to leave Inter this summer, he won’t. The Serie A giants will want to hang onto their best midfielder, and if the player is content, a move won’t come to fruition.
Instead, the Reds need to identify numerous attainable targets before the transfer window opens at the end of the season.
So far, the likes of Mason Mount, Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch have been heavily touted, and they all seem to be more realistic options.
However, Liverpool’s recruitment team are sure to have an extensive list, as this midfield rebuild has been on the cards for years now.
Barella, on the other hand, is highly unlikely to make the move to Anfield.
