Liverpool are more likely to sign Brighton midfielder Alexis Mac Allister this summer than they are his teammate Moises Caicedo.
That’s according to The Athletic, who have analysed the Reds’s transfer targets ahead of the summer window.
As per the report, the Argentine World Cup winner is “near the top of Liverpool’s list of midfield targets.”

The Merseyside outfit are also interested in Seagulls teammate Caicedo, but it is said that it would be more difficult to get him out of Brighton than it would Mac Allister.
The Ecuadorian would command a higher price-tag than the 24-year-old, so the latter is a more likely prospect to arrive at Anfield in the summer.

Liverpool more likely to sign Mac Allister than Caicedo
During Liverpool’s 3-3 draw with Brighton back in October, a run of play saw Mac Allister skip away from Luis Diaz, Thiago, Fabinho and Harvey Elliott, before being fouled by James Milner. This all happened right in front of Jurgen Klopp on the touchline, so perhaps this is where the German’s desire to sign the player began.
Although Caicedo would also be an incredible signing for the Reds, his price-tag is expected to be upwards of £70m.
Arsenal and Chelsea are expected to move for the youngster at the end of the season, so a bidding war could catapult the fee to a much higher figure.

Instead, Mac Allister is a more realistic option for Klopp, as he is likely to cost around the £60m mark.
However, his signature won’t be easy to secure either, as Manchester United are hot on Liverpool’s heels for the 24-year-old.
