Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch couldn’t hide his smile when asked if he’s about to join Liverpool.
That’s according to journalist Christian Falk. Falk made a claim earlier in the week that Gravenberch wouldn’t comment when asked about links to Liverpool after Bayern’s recent draw with Manchester City.
And now, writing for CaughtOffside yesterday, the journalist has fleshed out his story. It makes for interesting reading for Reds supporters.

“There was a meeting with Ryan Gravenberch’s management in Liverpool and in the Netherlands. So he is aware of Liverpool’s interest, the interest is concrete,” Falk explained. “I talked with Ryan after the match with Manchester City about his interest and he didn’t want to comment on it. But he had a big smile on his face, so it was clear that the Reds’ interest is an honour for him.
“He didn’t want to comment, of course, because he has a contract and he’s aware of Hasan Salihamidzic’s plan to keep him. But for sure, he’s not happy with the situation in Munich and he will be also discussing with Thomas Tuchel when they make the squad for next season, which I told you will be in a few weeks, and then they will find a solution for him. Bayern Munich is saying no at the moment, but their position on the matter isn’t set in stone. If you can get money for him, they will think about it and you saw on his face that he would be very keen to be a player of Liverpool.”
Gravenberch interested in Liverpool move
By now, plenty of Liverpool fans will have been scouring YouTube in search of Gravenberch compilations. Despite Bayern’s apparent insistence that he’s going nowhere this summer, the 20-year-old seems to have other plans.
There still appears to be plenty of work to do before the Dutchman is proclaimed a Liverpool player. But it feels like a distinct possibility that he could be.

Piecing together the puzzle that is the Reds transfer window of summer 2023, it’s not difficult to see where Gravenberch fits in. Young, potentially inexpensive and versatile in midfield terms, he’d tick so many boxes for Jurgen Klopp If the Reds could sneak him out of Munich in full view of the German Rekordmeister, it would be quite the coup.
Clearly, the Netherlands international is in favour of the move. Having failed to catch light at Bayern, Gravenberch could be a key part of a rebuild at Anfield. Why wouldn’t his interest be piqued?
Liverpool’s next trick has to be convincing Salihamidzic and co. If they can get the midfielder’s club on side, then it sounds like the rest will be easy.
While the poker with Gravenberch is ongoing, the Reds are keeping abreast of numerous other options, too. Things are starting to heat up with a month or so of the European season to go. Watch this space.
