Liverpool are reportedly willing to hand Ryan Gravenberch a wage of £200,000-a-week to join the Merseyside giants, with the midfielder keen on a move.

According to the Mirror, the Reds are open to doubling Gravenberch’s current salary at Bayern Munich as Liverpool step up their efforts to sign the Dutchman, with £200,000-a-week the same wage that Thiago Alcantara is believed to be earning at Anfield.

As per the report, Gravenberch is one of Liverpool’s main targets this summer and is a player that the Reds are keen to add to their midfield ranks as a replacement for the likes of Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, with the 20-year-old also an ideal long-term partner for Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones.

Described as being ‘world-class’ by supporters, Liverpool’s aim to offer Gravenberch a high wage is a telling sign that Jurgen Klopp could be ready to add long-term additions to the team this summer, with the youngster having all the makings of becoming a superstar at Anfield.

Moreover, with Liverpool expected to lose so many players this summer through contracts expiring or through sales, the Anfield side will have plenty saved in the bank to offer Gravenberch such a high salary, especially with the midfielder as young as he is.

Some might judge the logistics of offering Gravenberch £200,000-a-week having just spent a year largely sitting on Bayern’s bench, yet given the midfielder’s profile and what Liverpool need, putting up a big salary for the 20-year-old could be key in convincing the youngster to move to Anfield this summer.

Arsenal made similar plays in their rebuild of 2021 for the likes of Ben White and Aaron Ramsdale to great effect, and for Liverpool, the Reds’ seem to be copying a move from the Gunners over how they do business this summer, with long-term additions needed for the squad.
