Liverpool face paying big money to sign Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher this summer, according to journalist Dean Jones.

Speaking with GiveMeSport, the reporter claimed the West London outfit are likely to demand up to £50m to part ways with the 23-year-old.

The Reds are keen to sign the youngster, having identified him as an alternative to Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham.

“I’m told around £50m is the ballpark figure Chelsea would be looking at for Gallagher,” said Jones.

“There are other factors that will determine where he ends up if he does indeed leave.

“One of the key factors will be that he’s very much a local lad and isn’t keen to leave the area.

“Anyone I speak to that knows him seems to think he’d still prefer to stay in London.”

Gallagher could cost £50m

At £50m, there has to be a number of better options out there.

Even at Chelsea themselves, Mason Mount could probably be attained for a similar value, due to the player nearly entering the final 12 months of his current deal.

Outside of the Premier League, targets are often better value for money – although clubs do seem to hike prices up for English teams.

Regardless, a midfielder with similar qualities to Gallagher wouldn’t cost anywhere near as much.

Bayern Munich youngster Ryan Gravenberch has recently been linked with Anfield, and his reported £25m price-tag would prove to be exceptional value in comparison.
