Liverpool officials were among many Premier League representatives watching Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga last night.
That’s according to 90min, who claim the Reds sent scouts to monitor the 20-year-old, as his side lost 1-0 to Real Mallorca on Monday night.
While the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid have been touted with interest recently, it was English clubs who filled the Balaidos.
As per the report, representatives from Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur were all in attendance last night to watch Veiga.
Arsenal, Brentford, Brighton and Chelsea have also been spotted watching on at times this season.
Liverpool scouting Veiga
Having excelled in the middle of the park for Celta this season, it’s easy to see why so many clubs are in the race to sign the 20-year-old – who has been labelled as a ‘spectacular’ player by Spain U21 coach Santi Denia.
The youngster has made 27 appearances in La Liga this term, during which he has impressively bagged nine goals and four assists.
It’s clear Veiga is a talented playmaker, so he’d likely be a brilliant addition to Jurgen Klopp’s squad.
The Reds are reportedly willing to pay his £35m release clause, but it’s presumed that many other teams would be as well.
Therefore, although this sounds like an ideal deal, it most certainly won’t be easy to get across the line.
