Chelsea defender Levi Colwill will reportedly make a decision on his future once a new manager has been appointed at the west London side, amid reports that Liverpool are interested in the wonderkid.
According to the Athletic, the 20-year-old will decide on his Chelsea future when a permanent head coach is announced at the club, with Frank Lampard currently in the hot seat on an interim basis following the sacking of Graham Potter.
Goal reported last month that Liverpool are interested in signing Colwill, with the Reds keen to add a young centre-back to their ranks with the England youth international flourishing out on loan with Brighton & Hove Albion under Roberto De Zerbi.
Although journalist Ben Jacobs has claimed that Colwill won’t be sold by Chelsea, the defender could easily force a move if the youngster isn’t impressed by who Todd Boehly appoints as manager this summer, with the centre-back likely aiming regular football with the Blues next season.
Indeed, as a left-footed British defender, Colwill is a man in demand for all the right reasons, and should the youngster decide to leave Chelsea based on their next managerial appointment, Liverpool should be there ready to pounce on the England youth international.
Liverpool must move for Colwill if he opts out of Chelsea
Colwill is firmly establishing himself as one of the next great English defenders after a sensational year out on loan with Brighton, and with the youngster now having a slight chance of leaving Chelsea, Liverpool have to be the first off the mark to sign the 20-year-old.
The Cobham academy graduate will be courted by every top club in the Premier League should Colwill leave Chelsea, and for Liverpool, they must ensure that they beat out the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham to the defender’s signature.
