Tony Cascarino has suggested that Liverpool could sell Trent Alexander-Arnold this summer in order to fund Jurgen Klopp’s summer overhaul at Liverpool.
Speaking on TalkSport, the pundit made the audacious claim that the England international could be sold in order to add much-needed funds to Liverpool’s transfer budget, with the Reds expected to make numerous signings this summer to change the squad.
Despite a poor season, many Liverpool fans would consider Alexander-Arnold to be one of their most players, and aged 24, the defender has many years ahead of him to become a bonafide legend at Anfield. Yet for Cascarino, the fullback should be considered for auction to help rebuild the side this summer.
Cascarino said: “Who would you say is at the right age is the most favourable player at Liverpool [for other clubs] at the moment? You’d probably say Trent. Even though he’s had a difficult year, Trent is of an age – he’s 24 – where you can still get a really big deal for him.
“He’s a Barcelona type of player, or a team that wants to play the way Trent does. They’ve still got some young lads they’re excited about at Liverpool, but it’s a very difficult one to imagine how Liverpool and how Klopp are going to deal with what’s in front of them.”

Cascerino makes a good point that Liverpool could benefit from a huge sale this summer, yet Alexander-Arnold is arguably the last player the Reds should consider selling given how beloved the defender is at the club and how important the fullback is for the club.
With Alexander-Arnold a key part of Klopp’s system, the England international is the last player Liverpool should be looking to sell this summer, with other names in the squad more realistic and more reasonable options for a big-money departure than the 24-year-old.
