Liverpool now face serious competition in the race to sign OGC Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram this summer.

That’s according to Foot Mercato, who claim the Reds are joined by Manchester City, Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain with interest in the 22-year-old.

The Ligue 1 outfit will reportedly demand at least £44m to sell the France international, but with a potential battle to secure his services, they believe can make £53m from his departure.

PSG Sporting Consultant Luís Campos has been following Thuram for several months now and he is looking to sign the player in the summer, so Liverpool will need to move fast if they are to land their target.

With Liverpool out of the race to sign Jude Bellingham, the club need to identify alternative targets to pursue in the summer.

Whilst the majority of players linked have been central midfielders, the decline of Fabinho this term has created a need to bring in a new defensive midfielder.

Standing at 6ft4 tall, Thuram would add a physical presence to the middle of the park at Anfield.

Having impressed with Nice in Ligue 1 this season, the youngster rightfully earned his first cap for the French national team.

Compared to similarly aged players in the Premier League, Thuram would prove to be a more cost-efficient option, but would also be someone who has the potential to reach the very top.
