Liverpool have reportedly discussed the possibility of signing Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, with the 23-year-old emerging as a target for the Reds this summer.
According to the Daily Mail, the England international is on Liverpool’s radar alongside Chelsea teammate Mason Mount, with Liverpool set to overhaul their midfield entirely this summer ahead of what could be Jurgen Klopp’s biggest rebuilding project yet.
A talent who impressed Jordan Henderson out in Qatar for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Gallagher’s future is currently up in the air with the Chelsea man being heavily linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge, with the midfielder a name who could be sold by Todd Boehly to help meet Premier League and UEFA financial requirements.
And Liverpool are seemingly willing to bring Gallagher to Anfield, with the Reds keen to sign multiple midfielders to help refresh the squad, with the 23-year-old an ideal target for Klopp given his versatility and his Premier League experience for the likes of Chelsea, Crystal Palace and West Brom.
Moreover, with Liverpool now discussing about signing Gallagher on an internal basis, the wheels seem to be turning over a potential transfer this summer, with the Chelsea talent a player who could add a lot of value and much-needed dynamism to the Reds’ midfield.
Liverpool signing Gallagher alongside Mount could rejuvenate squad
Liverpool are now expected to sign two to three quality central midfielders this summer rather than betting the house on Jude Bellingham, and whilst Gallagher is a significant downgrade on the Borussia Dortmund superstar, the England international, alongside Mount, could be the new saviours at Anfield.
The pair are both perfectly suited to Klopp’s style of play, and with Chelsea open to selling both players this summer, Liverpool could complete a double swoop that will transform the midfield into something quite exciting, especially of the likes of Henderson, Thiago Alcantara and Fabinho can rediscover their form.
