Liverpool are now interested in signing Ajax right-back Devyne Rensch, according to GiveMeSport.
As per journalist Dean Jones, the Reds could join Manchester United in the race to the land the 20-year-old.
Erik ten Hag’s side have been monitoring the Netherlands international, but it is believed the Merseyside outfit could enter the battle as they consider their options in the position.
Liverpool are reportedly looking for competition for Trent Alexander-Arnold, with various injuries having plagued Calvin Ramsay this season.
Ajax want to keep the defender beyond the summer, so it may prove to be a costly task to sign him anytime soon.
Liverpool interested in Rensch
Although he hasn’t been as bad as people in the media have made him out to be, Alexander-Arnold has been below his best this season.
At times he has struggled defensively, with his awareness and overall positioning a particular worry.
The 24-year-old is known for his electric attacking ability, and his pinpoint passing accuracy.
However, with the Liverpool XI struggling all over the pitch, the Scouser hasn’t been able to utilise these traits to their advantage.
With Joe Gomez sometimes coming in to provide a more defensive option at right-back, the Reds seemingly want to bring in further competition for the position.
This could prove to be very beneficial for Alexander-Arnold in the long-run, as he has never had to experience extended periods on the bench.
Rensch is a hugely exciting player, having won Ajax’s prestigious ‘Best Talent of the Academy’ award in the past.
Therefore, this could be a great addition to Jurgen Klopp’s squad.
