Report: Liverpool star Mohamed Salah missing from training today

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah was seemingly missing from first-team training today – as were teammates Diogo Jota, Joe Gomez and Arthur Melo.

That’s according to the Liverpool Echo, after pictures emerged from the squad’s session at Kirkby, in which the four senior players were absent.

Having not been spotted in any of the images, rumours have circulated that they were missing from training altogether.

As per the Echo’s report, the Reds were given a day off on Wednesday.

This meant Thursday became their second day for recovery, meaning any minor knocks or niggles would have been assessed.

Therefore, Salah must have undergone assessment, suggesting he could be worried about a potential injury, after featuring for 25 minutes off the bench against Chelsea.

If it does turn out that Salah has picked up an injury, this will come as a huge blow to Jurgen Klopp.

Besides Alisson Becker, the ‘Egyptian king’ has been the side’s most important player this season.

By quite some distance, he is Liverpool’s top scorer – having bagged 23 goals in 41 appearances. Darwin Nunez brings up the rear in second, with a tally nine fewer than Salah’s.

Not only is it his goals which Klopp would miss, but also his immeasurable presence in the team.

Salah boasts a quiet confidence which has been pivotal in Nunez and Cody Gakpo settling in – as has also been the case with youngsters like Harvey Elliott, who has labelled him an ‘unbelievable’ inspiration.

Without him, we fear Liverpool will miss their leader up front, so hopefully his absence is just a precaution and he’ll be ready to face Arsenal on Sunday.
