Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones has claimed he has suffered an injury which the medical staff at Anfield have never seen before.
Speaking in an interview with The Athletic, the 22-year-old shed light on the reason he has been in and out of the squad all season.
“It’s a stress response on the bone here (points towards his ankle),” Jones says.
“It’s still the same thing. It’s just going and coming back again. It’s so frustrating.
“They have said it is something they have never seen before. It came back three times. It’s been a difficult time, but the staff have handled it well.
“There is a specialist on board now, so we just follow the plan.”
Jones suffers strange injury
During a time where Liverpool’s midfielders have struggled to find any sort of form, Jones would have been a useful option for Jurgen Klopp to have available.
The Scouser has made 13 appearances for the first-term this season, but the vast majority of these features have come from the bench.
The youngster has gone through periods of recovery, where he has cameoed for the Reds, to then being out injured again for the same number of weeks.
After struggling again recently, Jones made his comeback against Chelsea, playing 79 minutes from the starting XI.
As a 22-year-old, it must have been hard to undergo such injury struggles.
However, it seems he has the mentality to succeed in spite of this setback – so hopefully he can kick on and tap into his potential.
