Jurgen Klopp could reportedly drop Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah from Liverpool’s team ahead of their clash against Chelsea tonight.

According to the Times, the Liverpool manager is ready to take a drastic decision this Tuesday and drop three of his key players for the Reds’ trip down to the capital to face Chelsea, with Klopp’s side in desperate need of a win following on from their latest Premier League loss.

The Reds have already been hit by the news earlier this week that Luis Diaz and Thiago Alcantara will miss Liverpool’s trip to Chelsea due to injury, with the Merseyside club now set to make an incredible decision and drop three key players in Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk and Salah.

Whilst Alexander-Arnold’s form has been poor this season, many Liverpool fans would agree that the England international could be quite the threat against a team like Chelsea, arguably the only side in the division who has lower confidence at the moment than the Reds.

Indeed, Van Dijk potentially missing out also proves a major problem for Klopp, with Matip looking like a shadow of the player who almost led Liverpool to a quadruple last season with his sensational defensive performances and physical presence in the attacking third.

As for Salah, whilst the £34m winger has been Liverpool’s top goalscorer this campaign, Klopp could survive without the attacker given the incredible amount of attacking depth the German manager now has, with Nunez and Roberto Firmino all fit and ready in waiting from the wings.

Liverpool are in need of a change in the starting XI after a horrific run of form in 2023, and whilst dropping three key players in Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk and Salah could be a risky move, it’s also a sign that Klopp is willing to go the extra mile to get his team out of a poor run of form.

With Liverpool now having depth in some positions, the Reds boss can afford to experiment with his team. And with Chelsea in as low as a hole as the Merseyside giants, Klopp could be making a good move in changing things up at Stamford Bridge ahead of the final Premier League matches of the season.
