Former Liverpool player Emre Can has shared some advice to Borussia Dortmund teammate Jude Bellingham after a heated exchange.
Speaking in a post-match interview with ESPN journalist Archie Rhind-Tutt after BVB’s 4-2 loss to Bayern Munich on Saturday, the Germany international shared why he was upset with some of the 19-year-old’s actions.
“You know, Jude is still young, and you have to learn a lot,” said Can.
“Here on the pitch in front of 70,000/80,000 [people], there’s a few things you can’t do.
“You have to be there and have a good body language, you know, when a teammate makes a mistake or doesn’t see you. That’s what we have to learn as a team as well.
“It’s like what Bastian said before, we had a plan then we were 2-0 down and then we didn’t stick to our plan. We were pressing with one man and that is not good enough, but still, the season is not over.
“There’s a lot of points to play for. We will see what happens at the end of the season.”
According to reliable Liverpool journalist Paul Joyce, Bellingham hopes to make the move to Anfield this summer.
Can shares advice with Bellingham
With such ‘incredible’ talent, as Trent Alexander-Arnold put it, it’s easy to forget that Bellingham is only 19 years old.
His first-class attitude, brilliant leadership skills and mature outlook make him seem far older than he actually is.
Therefore, it’s great that senior players, like Can, are still trying to guide the youngster as best as they can.
The England international remains Liverpool’s number one transfer target this summer, but interest from Manchester City and Real Madrid puts this move in doubt.
However, it seems like Bellingham knows Jurgen Klopp would be the perfect manager to mentor him, as he looks to progress into the world-class footballer he is already becoming.
