Jurgen Klopp fumes after Liverpool’s appalling performance vs Manchester City

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was absolutely dejected in his post-match interview today, following Manchester City’s 4-1 mauling of the Reds.

Speaking with BT Sport after the game, the German was clearly disappointed with his side’s performance – so much so that he was rather quiet with his answers.

“We were lucky that City weren’t in a greedy mood,” said Klopp.

“They could do whatever they wanted.

“We can’t not have challenges in key areas. I can’t explain it.

“We didn’t put in a challenge for either goal. That’s absolutely not acceptable to be honest.”

This was another horrendous performance from the Liverpool squad, once again displaying the same issues they have struggled with all season.

In both the midfield and the defence, the Reds look incapable of making a tackle.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson are often pictured out of position, allowing opposition attackers acres of space.

In the middle of the park, neither Jordan Henderson or Fabinho cannot seemingly get close to the ball.

Klopp needs fast and physical players in midfield for his system to succeed, and the two seniors don’t seem able to fulfil their roles anymore.

At the back, perhaps a change in the set-up would be beneficial, as what is currently being used isn’t working at all.
