Liverpool fans will be absolutely delighted to see that Luis Diaz has returned to first-team training ahead of Saturday’s clash against Manchester City.
Taking to Twitter, the club posted a video of the Colombian walking out of the AXA Training Centre and onto the pitches alongside Diogo Jota and Curtis Jones.
The 26-year-old seemed in good spirits ahead of Jurgen Klopp’s session, having returned to the senior side on Tuesday.
According to The Times, the winger spent the international break training with academy youngsters in a bid to regain fitness.
Ahead of the Reds’s Premier League tie against Man City on Saturday, The Telegraph have suggested that Diaz is in contention to return to Klopp’s matchday squad.
In a further boost, Darwin Nunez was also captured making his way onto the training pitch.
The Uruguayan missed the international break due to the injury he sustained against Real Madrid, which turns out to have merely been a cut ankle.
Fans will be thrilled with Diaz back
With probably the biggest blow of Liverpool’s league campaign, Diaz suffered a serious injury which has kept him out of action for nearly six months.
Prior to his absence, the Colombia international was probably the Reds’s best player – a sure toss-up with Alisson Becker.
WhoScored statistics still have him ranked as Liverpool’s best player in the Premier League this term, alluding to just how big a blow his injury was to Klopp’s squad.
The attacker always looked to be the presence who could get the team back firing at any point.
He made watching the Merseyside outfit exciting during one of their worst periods – something the likes of Mohamed Salah and other key players were unable to do.
Therefore, his return to fitness, as well as Nunez’s, will come as a major boost to the Anfield faithful.
